Position within the organization

The R&D Engineer membrane technologies in DW treatment reports to the Team leader R&D Drinking Water Technology. The job is positioned within the PWNT organisation and is part of Saur Group R&D.

Job description

The R&D Engineer initiates conducts research in the domain of membrane filtration within the whole range of pore sizes, from microfiltration to reverse osmosis, and membranes made of different materials (ceramic and polymeric membranes).

Your focus will be on the further development of our own developed CeraMac® system, to minimise waste energy and chemical use. But you will also work to find new solutions to produce drinking water with membrane filtration in combination with other treatment steps.

You will be responsible for:

  • Setting up and leading R&D programs and projects within the roadmap of the group R&D.
  • Delivering technical expertise on membranes for water treatment.
  • Supervising lab and pilot research in innovation projects.
  • Reporting and presenting research results.
  • Presentation of results in Dutch and international workshops and conferences.
  • Performing technical and financial feasibility studies.
  • Interaction with international affiliates within the group, sister companies, suppliers, and technology/knowledge partners.
  • Contribution to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Provide input for the year plan and input on progress for the quarterly reports.

Competencies

You should have the following profile and/or background:

  • A MSc or a PhD degree in chemistry, chemical or process technology.
  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience in a technical role within the field of membrane filtration and preferably water treatment.
  • Business driven mindset, ability to interact both with commercial and technical disciplines.
  • Ability to manage innovation projects and set up R&D plans.
  • To be able to successfully fulfil this position, you must also have the following competencies: curious, proactive, creative, analytical and communicative.
  • Proficiency to acquire project management.
  • Driving license.

Location

  • North-Holland (Amsterdam / Andijk).
  • Full-time (40h).
