Water Treatment Plant Choa Chu Kang Waterworks, Singapore

After an intensive demonstration-scale study of 18 months, PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency has put into service a 180 MLD CeraMac® water treatment plant at Choa Chu Kang Waterworks (CCKWW). This plant went into service in May 2019 and was officially opened on 29 August 2019, making the news as the largest ceramic membrane filtration plant for drinking water treatment in the world. The plant was built by UGL (Singapore) Pte Ltd with the state-of-art CeraMac® installation, designed and built by PWNT with membranes supplied by Japanese ceramic membrane specialist METAWATER. This plant treats a reservoir supply and uses ozone oxidation on the membranes as part of the treatment train.

The plant was named “Water Project of the Year” on 28 August 2020 at the prestigious Global Water Awards 2020 presented by Global Water Intelligence.
